This week's topic:God modding. God modding, often, oh who am I kidding, all the time people complain about someone "overpowering" themselves. Some people do it cause there character is a god, others do it cause they don't notice it, Welcome to Friday night debate ya'll! Where every Friday i'll post a topic role play related for people to debate. The first topic being god modding here is what you'll discuss; Is their bad god modding and good god modding. Alright, let's keep it clean, this is a debate, nothing personal can be said, you can use people as examples but thats it. Edited by Badx, Dec 14 2008, 06:04 PM.

*Walk's on stage* Hello everyone, My name is Death and I was a god modder. Ok from a first hand view I would say that the reason that there are so many god modder's is the fact that they all think it's a god idea. At The time they think if they win in the fight he will get more respect on the forum. at first nobody noitice's it then the god modding become's a very hard to break habit. So my opinion is that god modding is bad. The only good god modding is when you are rping a god modder. |

Well, from what I've seen, most godmodders either want attention, are overly competitive, or aren't very expeirienced RPers. However, godmodding is fine with me if it's justified. For example, I was in an RP on another site and the guy playing Robotnik temporarily godmodded when he got all the Chaos Emeralds. Also, if godmodding a character for a bit does something important for the plot, then it's fine with me. |

Godmodding is not only making your characters overpowered, it altering the storyline. If it is apparent that the creator of the RP has a storyline made that he/she wants followed, the other RPers only add on minor details, such as adding onto fights, talking in conversatinos, going to a certain place, ect. You never destroy anything important unless you are told you can or there is no set storyline. Godmoding. |

I've had a lot of Goddmodding experience, I think Goddmodding is annoying because it ruins the roleplay and makes it impossible to fix it. Like "So and So blew up everyone and wont he fight" Sometimes its ok if the person who started the roleplay godmods the villian, but I hate it when a random person godmods and ruins big rps, thank you for your time *walks away* Just Walk Away! Just Walk Away! |

I agree with Billie, but we must also put up examples of God moding that we don't want in the rp, for the sake of the newbies |

godmoding hmm.. i agree that this is a kick ass topic. as for godmoding, it can be anoying, but people overcome it after a few roleplays i think. |

My bad, i've been losing my mento for awhile, like someone else is living my life, but anyways, heres the next debate subject. Deaths and Rebirths. We've seen it all the time, we've seen it in movies, we've seen it in comics, we've even seen it in sprite comics, most people don't seem to mind it when these basis for our nerdy lives do this constantly, but what about in roleplays? Death life, death, life, on and off for characters, characters ball there eyes out cause of these deaths, even reaching the point of near homicidal rampage, then, pop, the characters back. We see it all the time, but an opinion is never heard, is this a small bump for some? or a giant turd in the middle of the road for others? |
